Us

A riverbank, fresh spring air, falling sakura leaves, some quantity of alcohol and a considerable amount of luck, culminating in a love affair and a continuing roller-coaster ride through traditions and ambitions and uncertainty; kind of like “The English Patient” meets “Memories of a Geisha” without the war, injuries, doctors, nurses or geishas — or any of the bad stuff. That is the story of us, John (ジョンくん) and Iku (いくひめ), who’d met quite by chance at a party in Hiroshima, Japan, that neither had planned to go to, but went anyway. And this is our blog.

We met in Japan (her home), but we are moving to Australia (his home), and this is our way of talking with friends we’ve met from around the world, and to share our successes and frustrations of “Us”. As with any blog, this is just two people writing, none of this is fact checked, or even edited. Believe us at your own peril….
